The BSOE adheres to a strict policy regarding password strength. All BSOE passwords must meet the following requirements:
- Passwords must be at least 8 characters long
- Passwords may not contain dictionary words or your user ID.
- Passwords must contain at least three out of four character classes. The four character classes are upper case letters, lower case letters, digits, and punctuation. So, a password that contains upper and lower case letters and digits would meet the requirement, as would a password with lower case letters, digits and punctuation.
Passwords that do not meet these requirements will be rejected.
ITS also publishes a password policy that may supersede the BSOE policy. In the event of a discrepancy, you should defer to the stronger of the two policies when choosing your password.
