BSOE Printing On Linux

All supported Linux machines are configured to use our CUPS (Common Unix Printing System) server by default, so no special configuration should be necessary.

If you are trying to print from an unsupported Linux machine? You need to do the following:

Generate a file in /etc/cups called client.conf

#vi  /etc/cups/client.conf

It should contain the following:

ServerName papercut.soe.ucsc.edu:631/version=1.1

Once you save it, restart your computer or restart cups.

When you go ahead and try and print to a printer? It should be in the selection from the Linux print server.
