Google Mail Rollout for SOE

Attention BSoE Cruzmail Users,

With the upcoming UCSC Google Email roll-out, the UCSC campus community
will be directed to use the campus CruzID manager to reset their CruzID
Blue passwords. I would like BSoE personnel to follow a different
procedure that accomplishes the same goal of resetting the CruzID Blue
password AND enables additional functionality that will eventually be
made available to the rest of the campus, without requiring any more
user effort than the campus procedure.

PASSWORD RESET
All BSoE users who forward on their Cruzmail will need to reset their
CruzID Blue password, so that their UCSC Google account can be enabled.
The existing mail forwarding rules will not be carried over to the
Google system, so access to your UCSC Google email account is required
to re-enable your forwarding, and resetting your CruzID Blue password
allows your UCSC Google account to be set up.

We are asking ALL BSoE users (ugrad, grad, staff and faculty) to reset
their CruzID Blue password using a BSoE system so that we can also
update your campus password for new systems and services listed here:

1.) A new Active Directory domain which will allow us to have accounts
for all ugrad, grad, faculty, and staff.
2.) The BSoE VPN password will start using CruzID Blue (In December).
3.) The cruznetsecure password will start using CruzID Blue in the next
few months (This will be a separate announcement).
4.) The campusrocks cluster will start using CruzID Blue (In December).

BSoE users should go to this BSOE website:

https://cruzid-blue.soe.ucsc.edu/

to reset their Campus CruzID Blue (Cruzmail/Instructional computing)
password.

Please note that the campus is now enforcing password quality checking
for CruzID Blue passwords, so you must select a new password that meets
the campus password guidelines.

KNOW YOUR CruzID BlUE
Even if you do not do forwarding, you will need to know your CruzID Blue
password when we go live with the UCSC Google email transition on
November 14th. You can reset your CruzID Blue password with your CruzID
Gold if necessary. If you do not know your gold or blue, we will need to
put in a ticket to get your password reset, and it is strongly advisable
that people do that before November 14th.

MAIL FORWARDING
You will need to log into your UCSC Google account to re-enable mail
forwarding (once your CruzID Blue password is set). All CruzIDs that
will be be migrated to UCSC Google email accounts have been provisioned
on the Google system, so email forwarding CAN now be set up in advance
of the official Cruzmail migration on 11/12/2011 - 11/14/2011. You can
set your email forwarding following these directions:

1.) Log in to your UCSC Google account at: http://email.ucsc.edu
Use your CruzID and CruzID Blue password to log in.
2.) Click the Gear icon in the upper right hand corner, then select Mail
Settings.
3.) Click on the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab, then click the "Add a
forwarding address" button.
4.) Enter the email address you want to forward to, such as
.
5.) Select the radio button to "Forward a copy of incoming mail to".
6.) Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.

If you have any questions on either the password reset or mail
forwarding, please contact myself, my staff, or your CIC representative
for confirmation, more information, or assistance.
