Configuring Your E-Mail Client for LDAP Access

In the Toolbar, select Tools, then click Options. This will open the Thunderbird Options window, navigate to the Composition option. Next, hit the Addressing tab and check the box labeled Directory Server and click "Edit Directories" Another window should appear, on the right, click Add and fill in the fields:

Name: directory.soe.ucsc.edu
Hostname: directory.soe.ucsc.edu
Base DN: ou=People,dc=soe,dc=ucsc,dc=edu
Port Number: 389


Then click the "Advanced" tab and change the search filter to:

(soeStatus=Active)

Click Ok on all the opened windows.
